Neocement®

Neocement®

Neocement® is a synthetic bone cement that hardens in place, combining tricalcium and tetra calcium phosphate for strong support and bone growth stimulation.

Neocement® calcium phosphate bone cement for orthopedic and trauma applications – Bioceramed solution for precise bone defect filling

Description

Neocement® is a moldable bone cement formulated with synthetic calcium phosphate ceramics, designed for manual application in the treatment of bone defects. It is supplied as a two-component system, consisting of a solid phase and a liquid phase, which are mixed to form a cohesive paste.

Once prepared, Neocement® offers excellent handling characteristics—its smooth, malleable consistency allows precise shaping and direct application into the defect site. The cement undergoes a setting reaction under physiological conditions, ultimately forming hydroxyapatite, the main mineral component of natural bone.

Thanks to its chemical similarity to native bone and its biocompatible composition, Neocement® promotes osseointegration and acts as a supportive matrix during the bone regeneration process. It is intended for use in non-load-bearing indications where a fully resorbable, osteoconductive material is required.

Properties

  • Osteoconductive.
  • Moldable/malleable.
  • Interconnected porosity of ~ 40% allows appropriate bone ingrowth and vascularization.
  • Hardens in situ: the setting time is between 8 and 12 minutes.
  • Radiopaque.
  • Compressive strength after setting: 8 - 17 MPa.
  • Potential to be used as an antibiotic-delivery system.
