TriOSS® Clinical Case 2

TriOSS® Clinical Case 2

Diagnosis and Case Description

Patient:

Adult, 30-38 years old

Diagnosis:

Malignant bone tumor of the lower third of the shoulder with a bone tissue defect

Procedure:

Stage 1 (Aug 2023)

In the first stage of the procedure, debridement was performed to remove dead or infected tissue and bone fragments. Metal screws are placed for stabilization. An antibiotic cement spacer loaded with vancomycin and gentamicin is inserted to deliver antibiotics locally and maintain the bone space.

Stage 2 (Oct 2023)

In the second stage, eight weeks after the initial surgery, the antibiotic spacer is removed once the infection is controlled. Bone grafting with a bone plate, iliac crest graft, and synthetic material (Trioss) is then used to fill the defect and stabilize the area.
